Here is a list of our wormy, antique, and weathered barnboard reclaimed lumber products. First, an explanation of what we are selling.
“Wormy lumber” refers to a grade of wood that has been damaged by disease and then weakened and tunneled through by insect larvae. This wormy wood has since become fashionable for its rustic character. Wormy chestnut, wormy oak, and wormy maple are the most common types of wormy wood available in the southern Appalachians.
“Antique lumber” refers to wood that has been recycled or reclaimed from old homes, barns, and other buildings. Since the wood has been used, it also has a rustic character including nail holes and distressed markings. Some companies will “manufacture” an antique character by damaging fresh wood, but all of our antique lumber products are reclaimed and recycled.
“Barn board lumber” refers to wood that has been reclaimed from old homes, barns, and other buildings and has been exposed to weather elements. Barn board lumber is also synonymous with “weathered lumber.” When purchasing this type of lumber it is hard to see what the species of tree is, so it’s more important to look specify a level of age for the lumber.
Antique Wormy Chestnut Lumber
All of our wormy chestnut lumber is reclaimed and recycled from historic old barns, houses, and other buildings. Our lumber has been de-nailed and air-dried in our warehouse. Wormy Chestnut is straight grained, strong as oak (although easier to saw), and rich in tannins, making it highly resistant to decay.

Wormy Maple (Ambrosia)
Wormy Maple is Soft Maple with a which has greyish-blue and brown streaks that are caused by the ambrosia beetle. The beetle burrows into the tree and leaves a fungus in it’s path. This fungus creates the streaks and makes a very unique pattern in each board. Almost all of the streaks have tiny holes where the beetle burrowed into the wood. Neither the fungus nor beetle harms the wood.
Wormy Maple available in random length (6′ to 12′) and width (4″ to 12″).
